Babies, Kids and Teens Soul Care: Sunday Services
Infant/Baby/Toddler (Ages 0-4): We provide childcare for ages 0-4 in the first two rooms of the north wing of the building. Parents can check children in before the service and pick them up directly after. We have 4 weekly volunteers to play with the kids, with no more than a 4-1 ratio of adult-child.
Elementary (Ages 4-8): Parents are invited to bring their 4-8 year-olds into the beginning of the service. An announcement following the first couple songs will indicate our gathering in the front right corner of the sanctuary from where we depart to our room in the north wing of the building.
We employ the “Godly Play” model of learning about the Bible, starting with a story circle. Kids then move to an individual art station of their choosing (big and little paints, markers, crayons, clay, etc.) to respond to the story. We then rejoin the congregation for communion.
Elementary Assistants (Ages 9-12): Kids ages 9-12 are invited to assist in the elementary classroom by helping smaller children with art supplies, setting up and cleaning up, and modeling listening/participating skills for the little ones as we learn together.
Middle School (Ages 12-15): Middle schoolers typically meet with Scott Wickberg a few minutes before the service in the lobby. From there, they head over to their room in the north wing (or to a nearby coffee shop some days) and catch up on each other’s lives, play a game, delve into a lesson, pray, and then meet the congregation back in the lobby after the service.
